Our Fuel Up to Play 60 6th grade Ambassadors suggested having a healthy school fundraiser instead of selling cookies. They approached the parent organization with the suggestion and it was a huge success. The students are going to sell yogurt treats and bagels to raise money for healthy classroom snacks and playground equipment!

How did students and adults work together as a team?

FUTP 60 Ambassadors, the Program Advisor, student council chair and parents are hosting the fund raiser

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

The student council representatives were reluctant to buy in to the healthy snack fund raiser. They thought they would raise more money selling cookies. The FUTP 60 Ambassadors did not give up and pressed the issue of having less sugar in school. The council finally agreed and the parent organization supported the Ambassadors efforts.

How did you accomplish your goals?

We are taking the small victories with trying to limit the amount of sugar that enters the building. One step at a time.
