We all know how tough it is to sit still for long periods of time. Getting up to move can really help us from getting bored or losing focus. That's why teachers and students at Anderson Elementary are both on board for taking brain breaks in class. Usually these breaks are a lot of fun and involve dancing and singing. Kids often talk about how much they enjoy these physical activity breaks, and teachers say it really helps to keep kids engaged. We all need a break sometimes, and physical activity breaks are beneficial not just to our minds, but to our bodies as well!
How did students and adults work together as a team?
Students expressed the need for breaks and gave suggestions for activities. Teachers listened and carved out class time for breaks.
How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?
This play is needed year-round and is easy to implement any day any time!
What improvements have you seen at your school?
Kids are able to give more to a lesson since lessons are broken up by breaks. Students are less likely to become bored or uninterested in a lesson.
