Classrooms earn extra recess when students receive compliment cards for good behavior as a whole class. The teacher designates a line leader, and a student to carry the first aid bag, and students walk a few blocks to the town park/playground. Safety is used while walking to the park. We even have a police escort, when available, to ensure safety and fun! The police officer played soccer and basketball with the kids last week. Students work hard to get these fun walking recesses to the park. Augusta is a small town, and this is a great opportunity for our students.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

Students are more aware of utilizing our R.O.C.K (respect, ownership, commitment, kindness) motto during classroom time, and while in the hallway or restroom or anywhere in the school.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

The teachers and students plan these days and what activity they want to do at the park, besides playing on the playground equipment.
