Fuel Up to Play 60 students pickin' peaches for our school

During the summer, some of our Fuel up to Play 60 kids went to Peach Pickin' Paradise, a Farm to School partner, to pick peaches to be served to our students at Lamar Elementary. They had the help of parents and staff. The staff helped cut up the peaches and froze them to be used this fall.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

We planned a day to pick the peaches and then asked for volunteers to help us pick and cut up the peaches. We worked together in both picking and cutting up the fruit.

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

Cutting up the peaches took a great deal of time because we didn't have enough help. Next time we will have many more volunteers lined up to help us.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

We plan on using the peaches in cobblers, smoothies, and taste tests throughout the year.
