Breakfast For Everyone — First Meal Matters

Access to Healthy Foods, Community Involvement, Student Leadership,  Teamwork
Our school offers free breakfast for all students and parents. The number eating breakfast has increased from 120 to 170 since this first began earlier this year. The goal is to have around 200 kids eating breakfast each day.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

The students who eat breakfast are better prepared to start their day. They are more focused and their day gets off to a successful start.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

The importance of breakfast is reinforced throughout the school year in my class and on morning announcements. There are also posters that promote breakfast in the hallways as well.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

My fuel up team makes announcements periodically about health related topics including the importance of breakfast. Our nurse also comes on announcements dressed as the "breakfast fairy" showing the kids what a healthy breakfast looks like and how important it is to eat breakfast each day.
