Fueled and Ready
The FUTP 60 team did several Plays this year. 1) They made posters, went on the morning news show and hung pictures of the breakfast items available on a white board in the main lobby of the school for students to view. 2) The two weeks prior to the Super Bowl, students collected food items to make soup with during their "Souper Bowl" drive. The donated items were then taken to the local food bank, Loudoun Hunger Relief, for disbursement in the community. 3) The team also assists in the cafeteria during our "Taste it Thursday" events. During this time, students serve samples of apples, cole slaw, butternut squash, grapefruits, kiwi, parsnips and pears.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

Students will continue to promote breakfast by changing the menu pictures daily in the main foyer. They will also continue to serve samples during our monthly Taste it Thursday events.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

Since posting the photos of the breakfast items offered, we have seen an increase in the number of students getting breakfast at school.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

We established meetings two times per month. In addition, we created a Google classroom for FUTP 60 to increase communication between students and adults. This has really helped to have student sign ups for Taste it Thursday events and morning news show appearances.
