Fueling Up and Playing Flag Football
We had over 80 students in our after school Flag Football club. There were boys, girls and students in 3rd through 5th grade. Each day, we had a healthy snack and talked about nutrition. We did conditioning, training, skills, drills and games. This club lasted October to December and culminated in a tournament. The students had a blast and always ask when the next one will be.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

We had parents who came to watch. They commented on it being a great club. Our final club was a celebration in which parents could play with the kids...they loved it!

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

We continue during lunch recess and students become leaders of their grade levels in teaching 'how' to play with teamwork.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

Many more students playing football at recess. Also at lunch, students are eating the healthier foods.
