Breakfast – Grab and Go!
Fueling Up for School
Our students held a very successful meeting where we brainstormed ideas to promote our grab and go breakfast in our school. We discussed having a milk chugging contest, a raffle for those that buy, a fun hangout area for all to eat at, and making commercials for our TV announcements. We played the Eagles - It's Time to Work video to inspire and motivate them. The kids loved it!

How did students and adults work together as a team?

The Program Advisors worked together to create an agenda for our meeting, but then we asked every step of the way for student feedback. The students helped show each other how to fill out items on the Fuel Up to Play 60 site to anyone that was newer to the program.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

The students chose certain times of the year to start promoting our breakfast at key times throughout the year, such as right after holiday break and prior to the PSSAs. We made plans for when to make a commercial and posters to promote the breakfasts.

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

We faced the challenge of making sure our cafeteria workers knew we were promoting in order for them to order more supplies. We had to clear this idea with our principal, cafeteria company, and the teacher who sits with students in the morning.
