Fun Fridays
The entire school comes together every Friday for our Fun Friday Dance Party. Each week a different classroom leads the class on stage while the rest of the students and staff follow along.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

Students and teachers work together to come up with the dance routine they would like to do on their assigned Friday. Some dances are created by students and teachers and others we find on the GoNoodle website or Just Dance. We meet in the gym and the students as well as the teachers dance and follow along to the moves. Students have really taken over leadership of this and encourage each and every one to participate. Parents have even started staying after drop-off to get moving with us.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

Classrooms have already signed up for their times this year and are busy creating and perfecting their dances. Students really look forward to Fridays to get together with everyone in the school to dance and exercise together. Parents are even staying after drop-off to dance with us. We will pick right up in the fall with the same procedures!

What improvements have you seen at your school?

The students have really formed a community during our Fun Fridays. They encourage each other to participate. When we first started, many students, especially upper elementary students, didn't want to participate. Now we have 100% participation among students and staff. Classes cheer on other students when they lead. The students get their energy out first thing in the morning and go into the day ready to learn!
