Student Leadership

The FUTP 60 student team lead by Program Advisor Michelle Begley hosted a district-wide Nutrition Expo at Farristown Middle School on February 20, 2017. All FMS students had the opportunity to participate in the event, along with the FUTP 60 student teams and Program Advisors from all schools in Madison County. It was a productive event, as the school nutrition program received lots of positive feedback and ideas for new menu items for the school meals programs.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

The students were responsible for the entire event, from directing traffic at the school on the day of the event, to assisting vendors with set-up and breakdown. The student leaders developed an interactive survey for completion by all participants. The students hosted a meal for all vendors that participated and extended hospitality for all those in attendance.
