Physical Activity Participation

Each Tuesday, the physical education teacher and school social worker head out to the recess yard to get kids involved in active, cooperative games. The game of the day is announced each morning and students head to a designated area to work on team building, cooperation, and active games. This is a great way to keep kids active on the recess yard, to encourage social time with new peers, and incorporate physical education games outside of the gymnasium. The kids love to participate and sometimes teachers join in too!

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

We hold this event every Tuesday so the students know when to expect it and to plan attendance. We also have all the teachers, aides, parents, and the principal advertise it and keep up the motivation for the students. We also meet with our student FUTP 60 Team to discuss which games were popular and which games should probably be omitted to keep up the participation.
