We started a first phase garden in Maple Valley Schools. Kids were able to take charge of their class garden plot and then make the food into something yummy for the classroom.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

We had nutrition classes and garden activities that also included a traveling container garden to reach our students in the outlaying areas.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

We plan on having tastings of local produce and things made in Michigan throughout the school year.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

Kids do not go without food, ever.
