Joshua McClelland,   Foot Of Ten El Sch
Physical Activity Participation

Foot of Ten's Fuel Up to Play 60 Team decided to implement a daily exercise to get the students excited and moving for the day. After the morning announcements, the Fuel Up to Play 60 Team then introduces the day as either Move-it Monday, Workout Wednesday, or Fitness Friday. Along with offering an exercise or healthy tip for the day, the entire school than gets up and follows the direction of the team. Some exercises that the team has offered include jumping jacks, plank holds, push-ups, squats, and much more. The students are excited and a little more energetic after the morning routine. This is a great start to the day and a great way to share more about our Fuel Up to Play 60 Team.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

The students and teachers worked together to create a schedule of who would be speaking when and also helped create the script that would be read for the announcements. The students than compiled a list of various exercises that they wanted to include.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

We hope that these morning announcements are something that are easy, and something we can continue after this year. This engaging morning routine does not interrupt the classroom or teachers, so it truly is a a great way to add a little exercise and fun to the day.
