Get Up and Get Moving!
This year, our leadership team created a morning workout club; Thunder Fit! Any student is able to come to the weight room to work out in the morning for 30 minutes before school starts. Our goal is to increase the importance of being active and how a morning workout can have a positive connection to our learning and attentiveness in the classroom. After the workout, we provide the students with a healthy snack to fuel them up. We are excited about implementing this initiative and observing the engagement in the classroom.

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

We are still working on getting our 7th and 8th graders active in the club. Most of our attendance has been with our 6th grad students. Our leadership team is working diligently to find ways to motivate our 7th and 8th graders to attend the morning workout club; making more announcements, creating additional posters, and possibly including raffles and prizes to increase involvement.
