The students at Hoff come in from 8:00-8:15 Monday-Friday and run/walk around the gym keeping track of their laps. If they reach 20 laps, they have accomplished one mile. The students of Hoff are more energetic throughout the day due to getting more exercise early on in the day. The students seem to be more alert and ready to learn throughout the day.
What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?
The validity of how many laps each student did seemed to be a challenge. We overcame that challenge by having the students color in a foot on their own personal mile club paper that was put up on a door in the gym with Velcro.
What improvements have you seen at your school?
Students are more active throughout the day. The kids are getting faster with their pace. The students are more motivated and really enjoy coming in during the mornings to get some activity before their school day starts.
