At Odenton, we have both Girls on the Run and Hero Boys running at our school. It gives our students a great opportunity to do awesome things including being more active. Most schools only have one but I am happy to say we offer both. They are great programs and are helping our school community.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

We work together every week to get our lessons done. More specifically Girls on the Run sets up a mock 5k for the Hero boys towards the end of their season to make sure they are ready for their 5k. We make posters, supply water and cheer them on!

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

We plan to do this every year, twice a year. We have one team and session in the Fall and the Spring.

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

The main challenge is to get teachers and parents to be able to come every week. It is hard and people are busy but we have a great support system so it works out for us.
