At Plymouth Community Intermediate School, we feel that it is important to give back to where you came from. As a middle school we have six different elementary schools that feed into our school to create our student body. As sixth graders the students have an opportunity to meet peers who attended a different school and create friendships. As seventh graders the students are able to return to the elementary school that they attended for 6 years (grades K-6). As part of the giving back program, the seventh graders are bused back to the elementary school that they attended to help run an after school activity with current 4th and 5th graders. These activities are either a kickball game or a craft that the students are able to bring home at the end of the session. This get together also gives the current 5th graders the ability to ask questions about the new school they will be attending in the fall.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

The students and teachers worked as a team at both the elementary schools and the middle school. At the elementary schools, the teachers were very receptive of the idea of students coming back and at the middle school level we encouraged the students to participate in the program. The administration at both levels was also very supportive and helped us out in any way that they could.
