We started an after school soccer program for students to participate in twice a week.

How did you accomplish your goals?

We surveyed the field, to see what activity the students would like to do in their spare time outside of school. The number one answer was, "lets have a soccer skill program and activities".

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

We started the program by inviting students to join in a skills and technique session for the game of soccer. We started with basic drills and increased the difficulties of the skills as time went on with demonstrations and the participation of others. We started with approximately a dozen students and grew. We now have approximately 40 students involved in six teams.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

The students worked on their social skills and encouraged and praised each other during the skill challenges we incorporated. You can see the students work on there self confidence and bring it to our workouts and games. We have more students that want to participate, so we will rotate some student's this spring.
