Community Involvement, Physical Activity Participation, Student Leadership
It was a perfect morning to have the 13th annual “International Walk to School Day” at Gove Elementary. The event took place on October 4, 2017, from 7:00 to 7:45 AM. This event involved the entire student body, their families, Palm Beach Fire Rescue and the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office and other volunteers from the community. Cones were ready along Avenue G by 6:00 AM by means of Deputy Sutterfield and her volunteers. The Gove Guardians of Wellness Committee and community volunteers encouraged students by walking with them and mentoring parents, children and community members of the importance of a proper regimen of exercise, practicing safety manners and making the right environmental and health choices. We appreciate all their efforts for the well-being of the community. The Go Grant Girls gave all volunteers a green apple for Green Apple Service Day and bottles of cool water for donating their time for the betterment of the students and community. Students went to the Fuel Up Play 60 Pep Rally and Anti-Bullying event sponsored by Gove Student Council and the Go Grant to continue their day of service.
How did students and adults work together as a team?
Students delivered water and healthy snacks to the 50 volunteers and over 100 parents that walked their children to school and supported this event.
