A portable, beautiful Fuel Up to Play 60 breakfast cart kiosk provides a 'Grab-n-Go' breakfast option for students at our main student entrance. The Fuel Up to Play 60 team (Advisor, Nutrition services director, kitchen staff, administration and local University of Idaho partners) worked together on the Play. Students were surveyed about new breakfast foods, barriers to breakfast and how to improve the breakfast program. The data collected gave us ideas on how to improve the Play for the future. We presented our Success Story to our local school board as well and promoted the Fuel Up to Play 60 program.
How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?
We will work with the kitchen staff to see what more we can do to support the breakfast cart kiosk: putting announcements in the bulletin such as creating flyers to help promote breakfast and the breakfast cart.
What improvements have you seen at your school?
Since implementation, we have seen a slight increase in breakfast numbers and are expecting more as the program continues.
