Access to Healthy Foods

During the month of March the Grand Ledge food service provided a Grab N Go Breakfast every Friday. The first one was free for all the students to try ( yogurt parfait). The FUTP 60 team organized the ordering of the parfaits and collected the money. The students came in early on Fridays to serve them.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

The students organized this event from cost of the parfait to collecting orders and serving the food. They also were in charge of advertising this event, so they made posters, gave speeches in the classrooms, and an announcement at the end of the school day to remind students to bring in their dollar. Grand Ledge Food Service provided the Grab-N-Go breakfast.

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

Getting an accurate count of students who ordered the parfaits and making sure they got to the right student was an issue in the beginning. We were short a parfait and one of my FUTP 60 team members gave up his parfait to make sure another student got theirs. The students realized the importance of keeping better track of orders.
