Granville MS Wins OH Dept. of Ed National School Lunch Week
The Granville MS family and consumer sciences students entered the OH Dept. of Ed 2019 National School Lunch Week contest by making lunch menus that met USDA standards theme for each day, music that represented the theme of each day, and physical activities for the days of the week. We entered the Jon Harbaugh, Food Service Directors Menus, with themes, physical activities that met the theme, costumes, and music playlist. The Ohio Department of Education Educational Specialist Carmen Stewart for the Office of Integrated Student Support contacted us and brought out Munch the Fox. Munch is the mascot of the Ohio Dept. of Ed. Office. We celebrated with Munch by playing Ohio themed songs/singers, played kick ball, dressed in Ohio shirts, and took our pictures with Munch and the cafeteria staff.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

We planned themes, music, activities, and menus with the Granville Ex. Village School District Food Service Coordinator and PE teachers to enter the contest from the Ohio Department of Education.

How did you accomplish your goals?

We won the contest out of all the schools in Ohio that applied and then our school was honored with a certificate and a visit from the Ohio Dept. of Education mascot, Munch the Fox.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

All the students enjoyed Munch, the menu of the day, the songs, and the kickball activity
