Guess the Vegetable Event at Boone Elementary School
During the report card pick up day, several Wellness Ambassadors at Boone who are active on Fuel Up to Play 60 managed a Guess the Vegetable event where the parents, students, and community could learn how to guess several vegetables and fruits such as Taro Root, Celery Root, Watermelon Radish, Butternut Squash, Parsnip, Aloe Leaf, Chayote Squash, Scallions, and Straightneck Squash. It was a fun event for both parents as many struggled recognizing or learning about new fruits and vegetables. The students were also referred to the Health Teacher, as he provided recipes how to cook them if parents wanted a recipe.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

They worked well together and the students came up with the idea and organized it with the Health Teacher's facilitation.

How did you accomplish your goals?

It enhances students, parents, and communities knowledge about fruits and vegetables in a fun and active way. It also offers an opportunity for students to display their leadership abilities.
