Our student group wanted to create a dance routine that could be taught to all our students. They then thought it would be fun to perform it as a whole school at one of our weekly assemblies.
How did students and adults work together as a team?
The students and adults worked to generate ideas on types of activities to do as well as selection of music and time length. They discussed dance routine difficulty and how it would be taught to each of the grade levels.
How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?
The team decided to include this activity as part of the dance unit each year. Each student team would be responsible for the development and implementation of each year's dance. Students also hope to expand it into a school-wide morning routine.
What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?
Logistical issues such as getting classroom teachers on board, time, and finding a dance all kids would find appealing was the biggest challenge.
