Halloween Food, Fun, and Fitness
- Stephanie Peters, Park Elementary School
In October, Park Elementary School called all goblins, ghosts and creatures of the night to their Monster Mash Dance as a part of Red Ribbon Week. Teachers, parents, students and their siblings came dressed in costume as they moved and grooved to a variety of Halloween dances lead by Park’s music teacher. In addition, delicious healthy snacks were contributed by Park’s parents and served by Park volunteers and our librarian's local Girl Scout Troop. Park is focusing on health and wellness. Therefore, Healthy Halloween snack ideas were sent home and Park parents came through by supplying many fun and creative healthy snacks. Park further promoted student activity by providing a choice of various balls, jump ropes and Frisbees to those students who contributed a healthy snack to the event. Halloween blow ups of graveyards, carriages and coffins decorated the edges of the gym. A wonderful time was had by all. Healthy food, fun exercise, and FUTP 60 fellowship – you can’t ask for anything better!
