Halls Ferry students went on a trip to the Marcoot Jersey Creamery in Greenville, IL. Students had a chance to tour the calf barn and named a new born baby calf "Leo" after our school principal. In addition, they were able to watch cows being milked and then had a chance to milk a cow on the pretend cow. At the end of the tour, students were treated with a sample of ice cream and cheese that is made at the creamery.
Some students have never been to a farm or to the state of Illinois, so there were many first time experiences.
How did you accomplish your goals?
We decided what that we wanted to take the students to the creamery. We planned the dates with the district, creamery and teachers.
