Hallway Blitz on Sugary Drinks

6th-grade health students from North Hall Middle School created 3D posters to cover the hallways. We wanted to get the word out clearly that drink choices really matter in the sugar world. Most middle school students do not relate their quick drink choice as an opportunity to reduce sugar intake. We think our Sugar Blitz was very successful! We had all grade level students throughout our hallways telling us they never knew that there would me so many grams of sugar in one drink container. We also placed some of the posters in our media center as a lingering display to remind the students of the sugar in common drink choices. Our health students serve as Ambassadors for wellness choices during their semester of Health; they work very hard to promote improved fitness choices students can make during the school day. Way to go, Trojan Wellness Warriors!!

What improvements have you seen at your school?

Students have been making improved drink choices in the school day and after school to reduce their sugar intake. The Fuel Up to Play 60 Team here at NHMS has students thinking about what choices they can make to fuel their bodies with more nutrients.
