Having the Courage to Reach My Goal

Here at Eastside Middle, we do our 100 mile walking club from 7:30 to 7:50 a.m. on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.  During this time, we have a very special guy that works so hard on the teaching that goal of 25 miles.  He does not miss a Tuesday or Thursday. He can't wait to get there and is always checking those miles on the board. Well, what makes this story so awesome to me is that this little boy is special needs and he at times had difficulty walking. But nothing stops him from missing our club meetings and he means the world to me. This is his last year of middle school and for the past three years he had dedicated himself to reaching that goal of 25 miles. He is the reason I get up early and get myself there on those mornings. I don't want to disappoint him.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

Our staff and students love the club.
