Hawthorn Hill's Successful Souper Bowl of Caring Campaign
The HHE Nutrition Council decided to participate in the Souper Bowl of Caring promotion during the month of January leading up to the Super Bowl. They made posters and posted information on their school website. This time of the year, our Social Service pantry is bare with just getting through Christmas. HHE collected over 2038 cans/boxes of food. Way to go!! They were able to help many families in our area that needed help. The entire building was involved and the nutrition staff and teachers even started a competition to see which grade level could collect the most. This was a cause parents and even our business partners felt good about participating in. Out of all 18 elementary schools Hawthorn Hills won the contest. The Nutrition Council Advisor, our cafeteria manager and the 2 lead students got their picture taken with K.C Wolfe.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

Students, teachers, custodians, nutrition staff, parents and some of our community partners worked together on gathering donations. The Boy Scouts went around and collected all the items from the schools and took it to our Lees Summit Social Services.
