We try to menu fresh veggies at least several times a week. We were focusing on produce items grown in our area and used our self serve bar to create a "make your own side salad" with all locally grown items. The students were allowed to taste test anything they may not have had before. We offered low fat dressings and a whole grain roll. If they wanted to make it a Chef Salad for their entrée, they could choose diced ham and cheese, just ham or just cheese.
How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?
We will continue to offer as many fresh vegetables as we can when they are in season. The students like to be able to make their own choices, so we will always do offer vs serve.
