Healthy and Fun Cooking Club

Thanks to funding from FUTP 60 we are able to offer our students the opportunity to participate in Cooking Club on Tuesday and Thursday after school as part of their tutoring program. Targeted 3rd-5th grade students receive 1 hour of tutoring in Reading or Math, then they have 45 minutes to participate in clubs. Cooking Club is one of the favorites and we have 2 teachers hosting cooking club with about 15 students that rotate every 6 weeks, giving each child in tutoring the opportunity to participate. The students make healthy snacks, they write down the recipes and take them home to share with family and friends. Attendance in tutoring remains consistent because students want to participate in cooking club.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

The students and adults work together, the 2 teachers buy the materials needed and then walk the students through the process of making healthy snacks and writing down the ingredients.
