Healthy Cooking Class
Healthy Cooking Class is a program offered through the Sanford Family Wellness Center and collaboration with Independence Elementary Physical Education, 4th, and 5th grade. This year Sanford Family Wellness came to teach our 4th and 5th graders to prepare and cook healthy food choices. Each choice was based on MyPlate and were different foods that combined various parts of the plate. The students worked together as a team to prepare and cook very tasty foods that they can bring home and cook for their parents. The students had a blast and learned the importance of including healthy foods in one's diet. They also learned the importance of working together as a team to accomplish a goal. Lastly, they also learned how to be leaders and healthy eating advocates to their younger peers at Independence Elementary.

How did you accomplish your goals?

Our goal with healthy eating was to collaborate with a community agency to offer a unique healthy eating class for 4th and 5th grade.
