Access to Healthy Foods

"Farm to School Day" was a fun activity for everyone in our school! We had an apple farmer, dairy farmer AND a dairy princess come to our school. Together with the FUTP 60 Ambassadors, fresh Greek yogurt and delicious sliced apples were handed out to all students. Most fun of all, students and staff got to have photos taken in the "Milk Mustache" photo booth! FUN! Fuel Up to Play 60 stickers were handed out to all! This was a great event, and we hope to have it again next year!

How did students and adults work together as a team?

Fuel Up to Play 60 student team (Ambassadors), Program Advisors, cafeteria staff, and administration worked together with the local farmers to make this a very fun ans successful event! The Fuel Up student team did an awesome job of marketing the event and handing out the food samples, and our food service director helped set the gears for this whole day in motion so that students could become more aware "hands-on" of healthy food alternatives!

What improvements have you seen at your school?

Students seem more willing to eat the fruit that comes with their student lunches! There is much less waste, and the students are getting the benefit and nourishment that comes with healthier food choices.
