Healthy Eating

Christina Davis,   Lindblom Math & Science Academy High School
Access to Healthy Foods
Students get free breakfast and vending machines that have healthy foods and drinks are accessible throughout the day.

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

Challenges that we faced were the loopholes we had to go through for fundraising. One way we could improve our students mindset and bodies is to provide them with nutritious snacks and drinks. The cost is affordable and accessible to students throughout the school. This is also available for our teachers/staff as well.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

We are trying to get health more involved within the curriculum of our PE classes. Emotional, mental, physically and nutritionally. Students need to understand what they are putting in their bodies and making nutrition a priority.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

Breakfast is free. Now there is free lunch. This is a vast improvement. We have the vending machines that are accessible throughout the day during particular times. We have had health workshops.
