We have implemented a time in the day for students to do Move to Learn (videos in Mississippi) or go outside for some play time. We titled the time of the day Healthy Heroes to match our character education program. We are excited to see kids sweating in the middle of the day and their also see their academics improving.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

More kids are moving. We have after school clubs and we are running mock 5K's, playing tennis, basketball, and walking to the community center on the walking trail.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

The students completed a survey last school year and said the only thing that would make our school better is to have recess. So we found a way to make it happen this year.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

We developed a school-wide schedule for classes to be in different locations on campus at different times so everyone can move at the same time. We also are working on building an obstacle course out of donated materials such as old tires.
