Healthy PE Picnic at Escandon

I have adopted the Healthy Eating play of Healthy Picnicking for all grade levels K-5th during their PE times. I would love to start to incorporate this Healthy Eating play once a month at my campus so that I may be able to influence the way my students eat and snack. Each year, I pick a different healthy food for us. Last year our theme was Bring your Favorite Healthy snack and this year it was bring your favorite Fruit to PE. The students love talking and sitting down like a family. This may be the only time they get to converse with others without the involvement of technology. It helps with their interpersonal skills as well. We had great turnouts of fruit like mango, watermelon, cantaloupe, kiwi, jicama, apples, pears, oranges, tangerines, etc. A special thank you goes out to my healthy heroes in the cafeteria who helped every grade level by providing some type of fruit to any student that still needed some. It is an amazing display of teamwork.
