The 2015-2016 school year is Fueling Up to Play 60 at Houck Middle School! For the first time since beginning the partnership with FUTP 60, Houck Middle School has been meeting as Admin, Staff, Students, and Community Organizations, to meet the nutrition and physical needs of our students. The implementation of the program has been seen across the board: PE, health, FACS, Leadership, Projects, EA After School Program, Title 1 Tutoring, and our Community Garden. Lessons, events, and activities have taken place and introduced to our community as a whole.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

Collaboration within departments and programs have been evident through the implementation of this plan. Students are excited to participate in these activities.

How did you accomplish your goals?

Reaching out to various leaders in our building to begin utilizing the resources available through FUTP 60.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

The groups that meet to discuss the wellness plans of our school consists of admin, staff, community members, and students. Seeing our tutors use physical activities to teach a language arts lesson is beyond impressive.
