Healthy Snack Bracket
This year, we decided to do a healthy snack competition. We based it off of the March Madness brackets. We picked 4 healthy snacks that would compete. Then we paired up two to have a face-off. During lunch time, our Fuel Up to Play 60 crew gave a sample of both snacks. On their way out of the cafeteria, students would vote for their favorite. The first competition was carrot versus apple. Apple came out on top. The second competition was cheese versus popcorn (Skinny Pop). Popcorn won that round. For the finals it was apple versus popcorn. We decided whatever won would be named Mesquite's favorite healthy snack and the entire school would get to have a party where we would all eat the winning snack. What do you think won??? Drum roll please....the winner was APPLE!!! We are starting testing so we are celebrating the beginning of testing with an apple party!!! The whole school loved it and talked about it for weeks!

What improvements have you seen at your school?

We have noticed that students are making healthier choices when it comes to snack time.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

After the competition, we gave out healthy eating tickets to students eating healthy items. Those students names are put into a drawing and each week we choose a few and they win cool prizes!!!
