Access to Healthy Foods

We put new vending machines in place throughout our school with only healthy options for snacking. In the afternoons, students are able to obtain a healthy snack between classes.

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

Other teachers not wanting the food or trash in their rooms became our first issue. We allowed students extra time between classes so they could consume the snack before class.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

Continue to have only healthy snacks available to our students and maintain the options we currently have, as well as try new healthy snacks as they become available.

How did you accomplish your goals?

Not only is the healthy vending being used, but our school is raising money for new technology equipment from the sales! I call that a win-win!
