Due to the large number of students staying after school for athletics and academics, our school decided to rent a refrigerated vending machine to sell healthy options after school.

How did you accomplish your goals?

Our student health advisory group surveyed students to identify healthy options they would be interested in purchasing. The students shared that data with the food service director. Additional hours were given to food service staff to prepare items for sale and stock the vending machine. We currently sell fruit and yogurt parfaits, whole grain cereal and fat free milk, whole grain low-fat chips, cheese sticks, turkey subs and popcorn. Our school plans on continuing the rental for next school year.
