Helpful Hearts Food Drive

In February 2017, the Fuel Up to Play 60 team at Glenwood Elementary organized the “Helpful Hearts Food Drive.” Students and Program Advisors worked together in organizing a three week, school wide food drive. Each class was challenged to collect the most non-perishable items. The top two classes then received healthy smoothies and an extra recesses for rewards. The Fuel Up to Play 60 team then gathered all of the donated food and delivered it to a local food bank. This was a huge success!! The team and students loved the event and the local food banks were very thankful for the donations!

How did students and adults work together as a team?

Program advisor and FUTP 60 team worked together to implement a food drive at Glenwood Elementary to "Fuel Up" our community. The team communicated the challenge to the student body, decorated boxes to place outside each classroom, counted food items, delivered food to pantries and provided a reward for the top classes.
