During our Jump Rope and Hoops for Heart week, we opened the gym after school to encourage families to get fit together. We had a variety of fun jumping and hooping games that all ages could enjoy. The student team planned for a healthy snack so that we could emphasize that healthy food choices and being active are a strong partnership that is "better together".
How did you accomplish your goals?
While communications went home to ensure that everyone knew about our event the students team decided it was important to make announcements in the morning so that everyone got the info they needed. I loved that the students took the initiative to help the event along that much more.
How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?
The team loved the "ants on a log" healthy snack. They are already planning another after school event with the same healthy snack. Snack options included celery, cream cheese and Wow butter (soy butter) with raisins.
