Our school just completed a three week, double elimination hockey tournament in PE. The students absolutely loved it! They left so sweaty and excited. They developed their skills, learned about working with a team and learned lots about good sportsmanship. The hockey equipment that we used was from a Fuel Up to Play 60 grant that we received two years ago.

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

The teachers thought that is was too competitive because some kids cried when they lost. We worked through that you have to learn to win and lose in life.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

We co-led the tournament. The students helped by running the clock and scoreboard. Adults refereed and called penalties.

How did you accomplish your goals?

It was a combined effort between my leadership, student leadership and team participation.
