Hoops for Heart Event

The event was held at Plank Junior High in December, highlighting the benefits physical activity can have on your health. It was at the event that Fuel up to Play 60 was emphasized as a way to improve our fitness/health goals. The event highlighted all students with varying abilities. All students were a part of a three-point contest and all-school basketball event. Ultimately fitness was fun! It was a great way to end before December holiday break.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

The adults and the students formed a basketball team. There was a playoff between the teachers and students. (Teachers won :)

How did you accomplish your goals?

The event was two weeks long, building each day. Getting out information to the students, getting them involved during PE classes and outside of school.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

We will be hosting another event in April or May. We also started intramural classes after school. Students can join to improve their fitness and Play for 60 minutes. (Yoga, weight room, basketball, volleyball, Flag Football, soccer and many others)
