Horizon Leaders Rise to the Challenge
As the Fuel up to Play 60 leader for our school, I challenged our FUTP 60 student leaders to brainstorm ideas to create a healthy initiative that would impact the school community. They set an ambitious goal of putting on a school-wide play to promote healthy life choices. The FUTP 60 team really took this to heart and made this a quest. Students gave up their recess time to do all the work needed. Regarding the format, the decision was made to put on a “Price is Right” style game show called “Health is Right”. Three separate teams were established to attack the work needed including:  Art Team - Scenery and props.  Technology - Music, electronic version of the large “Health is Right” wheel.  Writing – Script writing and games to be played. I have personally led several teams, and the assistance I needed to give has varied. This by far, is the most student-led, dedicated team with which I have ever had the pleasure to work. They are simply amazing. Our play is scheduled for March 30th for the entire Horizons Elementary school community including students, staff and parents.

How did you accomplish your goals?

Our student FUTP 60 team set an ambitious goal of putting on a school-wide play to promote healthy life choices. Our team accomplished our goal by working together and dividing our student leaders into smaller teams. We chose team leaders and they directed each group and split the work evenly in their teams.
