Horizons' Run for Life recess challenge
Run for Life – This is a program designed to encourage the students to get more physical exercise during recess periods. Students can earn incentives for various distance milestones. Our track on campus provides our students with safety for this and many other activities. This is for Pre K – 6th grades students. This activity is held during recess time, before and after school. While this program has been in place for a few years, we have seen interest waning. We improved the program by adding ribbons, medals, and trophies for various mileage levels. Additionally, we had a "traveling trophy" that went to the classroom with the highest mileage/student ratio. All of these new incentives rejuvenated the program.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

The new incentives and promotions resulted in a 17% increase in mileage in the 2015-2016 school year.
