Farm to School — Know Your Foods

Our school was originally awarded a FUTP 60 grant to go on a field trip to a Dairy Farm; however, we had to alter our plan and were offered to hold a pilot program which entailed a Virtual Farm Tour. We had classes from Health, Physical Education and Wellness and Fitness participate. We invited several Administrators, teachers, and others to join our program presentation and on the day of the event we held a cheese tasting program so that our students could try different types of cheeses. We prepared questions to ask the Dairy Farmer who was guiding us through her farm day. It was very interesting and the students enjoyed it quite a bit. We are submitting to you a presentation of our students who attended the event. Enjoy! And thank you for granting us the funds, and the opportunity to participate in this first of its kind presentation.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

We came together as a group to create questions to present to the Dairy Farmer, orchestrated the cheese tasting program and the students put it together. Everyone enjoyed the presentation. We would like to do this again in the future.
