Hyde Park students and families came out to participate in the 6th annual Family Fitness Night. Our Yoga Club taught yoga poses to students and families. The Illinois Extension program from U of I had a kid-friendly cooking demo. They were joined by Preferred Meals, who provided a healthy snack of hummus. The Fuel Up to Play 60 Club taught other student how to make a butterfly snack bag filled with healthy treats. Many community groups provided health and nutritional information for families. Joining us were: The Waukegan Park District, Holy Family Dental group, Catholic Charities, The Lake County Health Dept. Fun was had by all. Hyde Park stepped off the National School Breakfast Week with an all-school breakfast and themed days for the week.
How did students and adults work together as a team?
Students from Fuel Up to Play 60 Club planned and got the word out through making flyers poster and going to classes to invite student to Family Fitness Night
How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?
Student are helping plan functions year round through an after school club
What improvements have you seen at your school?
Student are drinking a lot more water and eating healthier. 52% of students have meet a healthy BMI at our school this year
