One of the students was having a hard time running and keeping any pace at all. Throughout the Marathon Kids program he got better and better. There is a group of students who are faster and have better conditioning that usually run ahead of the others. The student who had been struggling made it a point to try to be in that group, and in one of our longer runs he said he wanted to run with them. I asked if he was sure and he said "yes". He kept up and completed the run with them. Everyone was very excited and proud of his accomplishment giving him high fives and pats on the back. His success has carried over to others who are trying to do what he did.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

The students work with all that come to help during our running sessions. The students have learned to help set up and put up any equipment used. They take in all the advice and encouragement from everyone. Some of the people run with the kids to encourage and motivate, and along the way are being healthier in the process.
