I have introduced interval training to K-5 by doing tabata exercise for warm ups everyday. Tabata is 20 seconds of exercise with 10 seconds of rest in between. There are eight exercises for the kids to go through. We only do eight for warm ups, but we have cycled through for a longer exercise. The kids have learned a new way to get a good exercise with no equipment and not a lot of space.
How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?
We do the tabata exercises everyday for warm ups. We also use the tabata exercises to do longer more intense exercises every now and then. I have talked with the kids about how easy it is to do these exercises at home, and how no equipment and little space is required.
